As leaders we all want our team members to become rock stars. But how exactly do we motivate them to give their best at work?
Unfortunately we all to often look for the answers in the wrong places when we think about pay increases and other forms of extrinsic recognition.
Instead, what we first need to do is to better understand the psychology of motivation and I know of no better tool for this than the good old "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs".
